Application & Efficacy
To regulate extracellular fluid volume, promote renal tubular reabsorption of water, constrict blood vessels and cause increased blood pressure. Insufficient secretion of vasopressin causes symptoms such as polyuria, dehydration, and thirst. Lysine vasopressin (lysine acetate) is a synthetic derivative of vasopressin. Its antidiuretic and vasoconstriction effects are relatively gentle, and it can be used as an intermediate in pharmaceutical synthesis.
